Laser hair removal was practically invented for summer! No one wants to deal with the unattractive regrowth needed for waxing, or unsightly, inflamed red bumps from shaving, while wearing warm weather fashions. However, there are a few “dos” and “don’ts” when it comes to undergoing laser hair removal in the summer.
Is laser hair removal safe in the summer?
In a word, absolutely! Laser hair removal, when performed by our expert staff, is safe and effective for removing hair any time of year. We are proud to offer laser hair removal for all skin types and tones at our facility
However, you must stay out of the sun both before and after your treatment in order to avoid complications.
Laser hair removal is never performed on tanned skin at Skin Care Institute because it increases the likelihood of side effects. Each skin tone necessitates a certain setting on our laser hair removal device, and it is too difficult to determine your natural skin tone when the sun has darkened it.
Before beginning your laser hair removal series, we recommend staying out of the sun for at least 4-6 weeks. If you do plan to be outdoors, we advise wearing a strong sunscreen and wearing layers over the area to be treated. It’s as simple as that!
After a laser hair removal treatment, it’s best to avoid unprotected sun exposure as well, due to risks of hyperpigmentation. However, just because you won’t be in the sun doesn’t mean you have to be pale! Learn more about airbrush tans at Skin Care Institute and you can have the best of both worlds – a hair free, carefree beauty routine and a perfect bronze glow!
