The summertime is a body-conscious event for most of us. We go from wearing cozy layers all winter to lighter, more revealing garments. Once we start cleaning out our winter closets, it can be quite a shock when we discover that our summer favorites don’t seem to fit quite right, or that our legs are more mottled with veins or more dimpled than they used to be.
If this sounds familiar, take heart, because we are here to tell you that you truly do look marvelous after a long winter of being cooped up! It’s time to be gentle with yourself! Secondly, we also need to mention (because it’s our job) that getting yourself summer-ready is a lot easier than you think. Here’s a look at some of our most popular summer prepping tools, and tips for getting your best results.
Fat reduction
A lot of people struggle with a belly pooch that won’t budge. It doesn’t matter how thin you are or how much you exercise, because this belly pooch isn’t budging. CoolSculpting® was invented for this — seriously! That impervious belly pooch or fat bulge has a name, and it’s called subcutaneous fat. This fat is pinchable and pliable and serves no other purpose than to bother us. CoolSculpting was designed to reduce this type of fat. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
● You should be within 20 to 30 pounds of your ideal weight. If you are hoping to lose weight this summer, it may not be the ideal time to undergo your CoolSculpting treatments. Your first step is seeing us for a personal consultation. If you are hoping to reduce your overall size, we may recommend that you first achieve your goal weight before coming in for your treatments with us. This is because CoolSculpting is excellent at what it does, reducing targeted areas of fat. But it will be difficult to see improvements if you are unhappy with your overall weight. You can also alter your improvements with weight fluctuations. For your best results, we recommend being at a stable weight.
Toning
Are certain areas of your body prone to a “flab and drab” appearance? Consider your buttocks, abdomen and thighs. These areas are typically challenging to tone up and often require a serious commitment to the gym to see improvements. If you’re not a personal trainer, it can be hard to find the time to get your workouts in. Or, perhaps you do workout regularly and you’ve reached a plateau. Or, you’ve undergone CoolSculpting to trim fat, and now you’re looking for more tone and definition to your “problem spots.” All of these scenarios are ideal starting points for Emsculpt® non-invasive muscle toning. We like to think of Emsculpt as a fine-tuner. It’s the finishing touch to get you across the finish line with your body contouring goals. Once you have achieved your goal weight and reduced excess fat, Emsculpt can be used to help define, tighten and smooth your targeted area. (It can also help lift and enhance the buttock area.) In case you aren’t familiar, Emsculpt works by inducing thousands of involuntary muscle contractions in your target zones with non-invasive electromagnetic energy. As your muscles contract, they trigger your muscle fibers to strengthen and tighten for a noticeably more toned and defined look. For your best results, we administer Emsculpt in a series of 30-minute treatments.
Veins and blotchy skin
Everyone has small, broken capillaries, redness and age spots here and there, and we have one easy solution for these common concerns — the photofacial! Intense pulsed light (IPL) photofacials use intense light to erase pigmentation issues and small veins so your skin is clearer and more evenly toned. This non-invasive treatment doesn’t break the skin, so there’s little to no downtime. Your best results are seen with a series of treatments. Keep in mind that you can’t be suntanned when you undergo your photofacial, so you’ll need to be vigilant about wearing sunscreen before, during and after your treatments. We recommend wearing sunscreen every day of your life, so a suntan should not be a problem for you. We truly can’t emphasize this point enough, that sunscreen is your most important beauty weapon! It not only helps protect your skin from cancer and aging, but it also helps to preserve the results of your professional skin treatments with us. Once you start investing in your skin, you’ll want to protect your investment with SPF! We can help you find the perfect sunscreen for you during your consultation. Whether you want a tinted and mattifying formula or a hydrating and translucent gel, we’ve got you covered (pun intended!).
